FOOD SERVICE AT AVS

Announcement

Effective November 1st breakfast will cost students $2.75 ($3.50 plus tax for adults), and lunch will cost students $4.00 ($4.50 plus tax for adults). The price of the AVSPC Hot Dog Lunch won't change.

The Lunch Program

AVUSD contracts with Healdsburg Unified School District to receive lunches. The price of lunch is $3.00 per day. Free or reduced price lunches are available for qualifying students through the National School Lunch Program. Families who wish to order lunch for their children must pay in advance or on the day of service. Students will not be able to order lunch “on credit”.

Please follow one of these two payment methods:

Pay for any amount of meals in advance at the office to Jackie Sloan, the office manager.
Pay on the same day your child wishes to eat in the office by putting the exact amount in one of the school lunch brown envelopes, and writing your child’s name and grade on the front.

Lunches are ordered from Healdsburg USD before 9:00 AM each day. No corrections can be made after that time.

Breakfast is Served each morning before school.

Hot Dog Lunch

For decades, the Alexander Valley Parent’s Club has been cooking Hot Dogs for students and teachers on Fridays. Fruit and / or vegetables are provided for a balanced meal. For the 2008-09 school year Hot Dog Days will be the 1st and 3rd Fridays of every month. If this falls on a minimum day, Hot Dog lunch will not be provided. The cost is $2.00. Hot Dog tickets are available for purchase in the office by students or parents. Students requesting the hot dog lunch then redeem these tickets in their classroom on Friday mornings. Regular school lunches are not available on Hot Dog Days.

Nutrition Policy

AVS promotes nutritional and physical objectives that contribute to the ability to learn and to good health. Foods sold and served at AVS should be nutritious. Nutrition education and health education are offered in each grade. Before you bring food items to class to share, please check with the class teacher for individual class guidelines, including any food allergies that your child’s classmates may have.
